Workshops

As part of our commitment and contribution to the local community, The LOT is available for use as a space in which workshops may be established. To date we have participated in a series of workshops for children aged 10 to 13 years with an interest in the performing arts. The workshops were run by friend of The LOT, Rand Prichard, who encourages children in song writing, dance, costume making and the technical skills required to promote the above to public audiences.

Traditional music is very much a part of our daily business. We are delighted to be involed with some superb musicians and tutors of traditional music one of whom is Eilidh Steel. Eilidh runs a traditional fiddle workshop with the purpose of teaching children from beginner to intermediate level about Scottish fiddle music. The workshops look into the different tunes types, regional styles and tunesd from other traditions. A great opportunity to learn, meet other young players and make new friends.

Eilidh Steel is from Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute. After seeing a fiddle being played when she was four years old, she begged her parents until they bought her one and started lessons when she was six. She studied an HNC in Traditional Music Performance at North Highland College, Alness before studying a BA (Honours) in Scottish Music at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (R.S.A.M.D.) in Glasgow where she graduated in 2006.
She plays with the band Heeliegoleerie who play a mixture of traditional Scottish tunes and songs, along with many of her compositions. With Heeliegoleerie and as part of various other groups she has toured in Scotland, England, Ireland, France, Egypt, Russia, Romania, Denmark, Austria and Germany.
